10 Things to Do in Denison, TX #DiscoverDenison

When I think of Denison, TX, two words that come to mind are hidden gem! There is so much to do, and we enjoyed the perfect combination of fun and relaxation. We stayed at The Cabin With The OK View, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The view was so peaceful, and it felt like we were in our little slice of heaven. We were close to downtown, but just far enough out of town to feel like we were in the country. We had the best time and can’t wait to go back!

Ten Things You Need to Do in Denison, TX

We loved our stay hosted by Discover Denison

  1. Build your Own Succulent Garden at https://www.410collectivedenison.com/. I love that you get to pick your container from around the store, pick your succulents, and then put it all together. I went to town and made a full garden! As y’all know I’m obsessed with succulents, and this was one of my very favorite things we did!

  2. Tasting and Tour at Ironroot Distillery: http://www.ironrootrepublic.com/ We did a tasting and tour at Ironroot. It was so exciting to see the process and hard work that goes into the unique liquors they make. The whiskey especially was delicious! I’ve been on a variety of tours, but honestly this was so interesting and informative!

  3. Pop Around the Corner: https://www.poparoundthecorner.com/ Two words: GOURMET POPCORN. Seriously their popcorn is fantastic! They have over 50 unique flavors, including Dallas mix, watermelon, birthday cake, cinnamon roll, tuxedo, blue coconut, and so many others!

  4. Paint a Rock and Hide it Around Town: I love traditions almost as much as I love close-knit communities. At first, I wasn’t sure about painting rocks, but as soon as Elsie at https://2chickshomeandmarket.com/ explained to me the community tradition I knew I wanted to be a part of it! I love that the culture involves kids, adults, families, and whoever wants to participate. We painted rocks at 2 Chicks and then hid them on Main Street!

  5. Visit the Eisenhower Birthplace Historical Site: Denison is most known for being the birthplace of Eisenhower. Fun Fact: Eisenhower was the first U.S. president born in Texas! If you are interested in a tour or admission pricing you can get more information here https://www.thc.texas.gov/historic-sites/eisenhower-birthplace-state-historic-site

  6. Homestead Vineyard and Winery: Located in Downtown Denison. I would 10/10 recommend their Moscato! Next time I will do a tasting though.

  7. Get a Latte at Revolution Coffee: https://www.revolutioncoffeecodenison.com/ You can shop, create a succulent garden, and enjoy excellent coffee in one space. I would call that a win! Also, try to hang out with Natalie or Benjamin for more than 5 minutes and not want to be best friends. They are both so fun, know all things coffee, and Natalie has such an infectious personality.

  8. Food Truck Park: https://www.facebook.com/DenisonFoodTruckPark/ Who doesn’t love the right food truck? There are multiple food trucks with a variety of food types. Check the link for hours and more information!

  9. Dinner at Devolli’s Italian Restaurant: The pizza was amazing, the wine was delicious, and the live music was so so good!

  10. Shopping in Downtown Denison: There are so many cute antique/vintage/boutique stores in downtown including Grayson Social, Vintage Mercantile, 2 Chicks Home and Market, Main Street Mall Denison, and a lot of others! The best way to see them all is to walk down Main Street.

Honestly, I was shocked at how much there was to do. Plus I can’t believe how close it is to Dallas! We will definitely be visiting Denison again soon.

XOXO,
