TRAVEL GUIDES
About a week ago, Amberley and I packed up and left the husbands (and Ryder) behind for a girl’s trip! We loved partnering with Choctaw Country to experience so much and share it with our followers. We headed towards Durant, Oklahoma, about an hour and 15 minutes from my house. We had the best time! In previous visits, I have gone straight to Choctaw Casino and Resort, but we got to experience all there is to do nearby this time.
Every time we fly out of the DFW Airport I always think, “Wow this day was so much more stressful than it needed to be. I wish we didn’t have to drive 45 minutes to get the airport.” Add to that parking, sometimes Uber, and by the time we get through security I feel like the day was so overwhelming. However, this was the FIRST time that was not the case. I’m going to be honest when the Westin asked to host us I presumed it would be like other airport hotels, but little did I know... As soon as we talked into the lobby at the Westin Dallas Fort Worth Airport Hotel I knew I had been completely wrong. Right away I could tell how beautiful it was.
My favorite aspect of visiting Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is after multiple visits checking in and getting settled feels so familiar. I love the familiarity of it all! However, at first I felt like there was so much to learn in terms of doing it right and each trip gets better & better as we learn the ins and outs.
Growing up in Alaska the Alaska Railroad always had a certain magic about it. At a young age when we would go out on a family fishing trip or camping trip we would drive past one of their trains. As a kid it was easy to dream of how much more fun it would be to see all of the views by train. My first train experience in Alaska was in kindergarten. One of our field trips was a trip on the Alaska Railroad. It was so fun and “the coolest field trip ever.” Since then I have been wanting to see more of Alaska by train and going to Denali had always been a huge bucket-list item for me. We took the Denali Star from Anchorage to Denali in the Adventure Class sponsored by The Alaska Railroad.
When I think of Denison, TX, two words that come to mind are “hidden gem!” There is so much to do, and we enjoyed the perfect combination of fun and relaxation. We stayed at The Cabin With The OK View, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The view was so peaceful, and it felt like we were in our little slice of heaven. We were close to downtown, but just far enough out of town to feel like we were in the country. We had the best time and can’t wait to go back!
As soon as you step into The St. Anthony Hotel you can't help but notice the intricacy and luxury of the features throughout the lobby. It is absolutely breathtaking and as we walked in we both stopped in awe. Our only plan for the weekend included relaxation and adventure. We went into the weekend with a very vague schedule, which if you have traveled with me you know this is very rare.
If you follow me on Instagram you know that my friend Abigail and I do an annual girls weekend road-trip. This year we took it up a notch by partnering with Mazda USA to road-trip in the Mazda MX-5 Miata. It was seriously so cute and equally sporty! Last year we went to San Antonio, so this year we decided to do something different. We knew we wanted to stay in Texas, but we wanted to visit a couple cities with hidden charm that aren’t super busy and there isn’t a lot of traffic.
